Is it worth buying a changing robe?

Is it worth buying a changing robe? Changing robes are perfect for covering up and getting warm and dry quickly after being in cold water.

We’re big fans of the beach and we love to get in the sea, either for a surf, swim or paddleboard. The sea is usually freezing here in the UK, and while we don’t mind getting into the cold water, it’s the coming out of the water which is usually the worst part.

The G.ROBE is the ultimate changing robe in the UK, but it’s not cheap. So is the G.ROBE worth the money?

How much does a G.ROBE cost?

The standard G.ROBE is long sleeved and costs £139.99 for adults and kids sizes.

What makes a G.ROBE expensive?

There are alternatives to G.ROBES, but there is no denying that the G.ROBE has a few features which make it stand out from the others.

Side zips

Additional zips up both sides mean you can sit, drive, horse ride or sail without having to unzip the front and in additon parts of the G.ROBE including the logo on the back are reflective keeping you safer.

100% recycled waterproof outer layer
The outer weatherproof layer of the G.ROBE is made with 100% recycled nylon, approved by the Global Recycle Standard (GRS) and would otherwise be sent to landfill. Although this doesn’t necessarily impact the feel or the quality of the product, it’s an expensive process to get recycled materials and make them good enough for a finished product. Therefore this absolutely impacts the cost to make a G.ROBE.

In terms of the quality of the robe, it really is top-notch, the outer shell is not only waterproof but is also windproof. Additionally it really helps to keep you warm and dry as soon as you get back onto land. The lining of the G.ROBE is very fast-drying. The inner lining is an amazing material which is absolutely ideal for a changing robe which you’re going to throw on when you’re wet.

The G.ROBE is also very light, weighing around 1.3kg. This is quite a bit lighter than some of the other changing robes on the market.

Other factors to consider

Aside from the quality of the product, there are other reasons which make G.ROBE a little more expensive than other changing robes on the market. The quality of the G.ROBE, the embroidery, the fact that it will last longer than other changing robes on the market. So although the initial cost is quite a lot, it will pay off in the long-run from the years of service you’ll get.
